In early December, Michaela and I will take a much needed Vacation with her Mom and sister who currently live in Czech republic and Switzerland.
Having been to those beautiful countries, I can see that one can easily stay fit. If we can stay far from crazy European vacation binge drinking and cheese chomping, we can appreciate the finer foods from local farms. The fresh beef, milk and produce can plate an exemplary Paleo/Zone meal. Europeans find it easier to find the untainted, hormone/chemical free meat and vegetables that we all too easily find in stores from our mass produced food factories. Growing up in a small town in Czech Republic, Michaela and her family owned a vacation forest cottage where she and her dad would gather ripe berries and mushrooms.
Every time we visit local farmer's Markets close to San Jose, Michaela is reminded of the organic bounty they used to harvest. Understanding how our European counterparts live and eat, helps me realize how they have tremendous potential to become champion CrossFitters.
World's Fittest Man (2009 CrossFit Games Champion) Mikko Salo from Finland exclaims: "I'm very proud, CrossFit is going to be very important to
grow in Europe. It's coming like a storm to Europe now, and I hope this
helps it."
It is too easy to fall off the wagon when we go to Costco. Make the effort and take the time to find and eat quality foods all you CrossFit hunters and gatherers! Eat, train and live better! You will appreciate your lean six pack abs come vacation time.
